Safe & Conservative
According to the FDA, amalgam fillings contain approximately 50% mercury and 33% other metal alloys, such as silver, zinc, copper, and tin. Recently, there has been public concern regarding the leakage of mercury from this filling material, but the FDA has concluded that there are minimal negative risks regarding amalgam toxicity and bioaccumulation to humans from placement of amalgam fillings. However, if an existing amalgam/silver filling is compromised (fractured, broken margins), there is increased risk of amalgam leakage and the development of decay.
We are committed to ensuring your teeth (and fillings) remain supported and free of decay. Dr. Dailey and Dr. Sciancalepore enjoy using composite, or tooth-colored, fillings to help restore your teeth to their natural appearance and function.
If you have any concerns or are planning to have any amalgam fillings removed, our team at Integrative Dentistry will pay careful attention during the procedure to ensure all of the amalgam is safely removed from your tooth and mouth.
If you would like to remove an existing amalgam filling or if you’re in need of a dental filling or restoration, our office is more than happy to help. Please call (734) 996-0055 to set up an appointment today.
