Missing or damaged teeth can be restored using prosthodontics. Prosthodontics is the study of the design, manufacturing and placement of prosthetics such as dental implants, crowns, bridges, orthodontic appliances, and dentures. All of these prosthetics are custom-made to blend in with your smile.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are long-lasting prosthetic replacements for missing or damaged teeth. Implants are made up of three different parts: the fixture, the abutment, and the porcelain crown. The titanium fixture is surgically placed in the jawbone, which acts as the tooth’s “root”. The lightweight & biocompatible fixture isn’t visible once it’s placed, and it will naturally bond with the jawbone to create a firm attachment.

Once your body has become fully adjusted to the implant fixture, our team at Integrative Dentistry will be able to complete your restoration by adding the implant abutment and crown. The abutment connects the fixture to a porcelain crown, bridge, or denture that’s custom-made to fit your smile.

Dental Bridges and Crowns

A dental crown is a cap built to look like a tooth, which attaches to the top of a tooth that’s fractured or severely damaged. In most cases, the damaged part of the tooth is removed under local anesthetic, and a temporary crown is made in the office until your custom, permanent crown arrives from a dental lab.

A dental bridge acts to fill in the gap created from one or more missing teeth. It can be supported by an implant or by existing natural teeth. The dental bridge is also customized to match the rest of your smile.

Full and Partial Dentures

A full denture is a removable set of prosthetic teeth attached to an acrylic base, typically used to restore a whole arch (upper or lower) of missing teeth. Today’s dentures are far more comfortable and natural-looking than in the past. A full denture is the most cost-effective way to restore missing teeth.

Like a full denture, a partial denture is a removable prosthetic device used to replace missing teeth. However, it’s only placed in a specific area of the mouth. Partial dentures are typically held in place using a metal framework that can clasp to existing teeth in your mouth.
